How to get there:
A good starting point of reference is Sucre, the capital of Bolivia.
The road to this mountain is pretty good all the way. First, a two lane paved road,
next a long stretch of cobblestone road, then a good dirt road the final stretch.
One may climb this peak from many starting locations along the road.
We decided to take the south and south-east ridge, the most gentle route, but not the
very shortest one. One should then continue along the road to a local col located
at S19.55352, W64.64275, elevation about 3875 meter.
Route:
From the trailhead, follow the rough mountain road that climbs (climbers) left.
When reaching the ridge, you may choose between two alternatives. You may do a gentle
traverse down to reach the small valley floor at the base of the south ridge, or you may continue
to follow the rough road on top of the local ridge, north. In this case, you will next ascend more
steeply west to reach the south-east ridge, then follow
this to the summit. In the former
case, just ascend the south ridge with
its continuation on the upper south-east ridge.
A track of the first variant is posted on Peakbagger.
Comments:
We did this peak as a daytrip from Sucre,
the capital of Bolivia. The road is pretty good
and the hike is quite short and easy.
