How to get there:
The trailhead is the small village of Granada. A road continues about XX kilometer from Granada, however this road could not be driven when we visited in May 2025. We parked near the end of the concrete street near location XX.
You drive to Granada starting from the large town of YY. The road is partly paved in the first section, then good dirt to the small village of YY. From here, the road is a bit rougher and a high clearance 4WD vehicle should be used.
Route:
Note:
There is a more well known peak about 1.7 kilometer to the east, overlooking the 7 lagunas. This peak has a solid rock tower as its highest point. A ladder has been put in place in order for people to get up on the top. This peak is called Cerro Campanario. The elevation is approximately XXXX meter. The route of ascent starts from the lagunas where the access trail ends.
First, hike the remainder of the road until it ends near the creek at location YY. From here, a nice trail, initially with stone steps continues to the lakes (lagunnas) higher up.
Note that you must leave this trail well before you reach the lakes. There is a (smaller) trail that forks left near location XX. Follow this as it climbs through vegetation then emerges to an area of open grass land. Head uphill while tending left while staying on open land. A track is posted on Peakbagger, the descending route is recommended. You will cross a farmers fence multiple times. Continue uphill and contour fairly high on the left side (facing uphill) of a local hilltop. Descend on the other side and cross towards the peak in an obvious way. Ascend going right to reach the main crest. Finally, head up a short, slightly steeper section of grass, then more gently to reach the highest point.
