Information:

How to get there:
This peak is located about 70 kilometer south-west of the city of Leon. A good acces is via the community Castrocontrigo using the Hwy. going north-west, than a smaller road heading north in the final approach. There is good parking in a road bend at location N42.35013, W006.43159, elevation near 1700 meter.
See here For a quick summary of the peaks climbed on this trip.
Route::
A good trail starts immediately right across the road from the parking. This trail has cairns and runs all the way to the summit. However, there are shorter sections of talus (no trail) that must be crossed. Normally, a (YDS) class 1 route, but the talus earns it a class 2 rating. When the trail reaches the main crest, it merges with another trail coming along the crest. This is a point to keep in mind on the return hike. The trail continues on the south side of a minor top (Sestil, 2031m) then ascends the peak while keeping left, this avoids a lot of talus. The summit is marked by the Spanish concrete pillar.
Comments:
I drove from Leon after breakfast and was ready to hike by 1015. The hike was straightforward. The weather was overcast with low clouds obscuring the peak. I arrived on top after wasting time with the talus (that may be avoided staying more left), at 1155. The clouds lifted and I had a pretty good view around. Leaving at 1205, I made it back down to my car in 1:15.
This was my Ribu number 700 according to Peakbagger. It remains to be checked if Peakbagger keeps a "correct" count, by including peaks that subsequently (after my ascent) have lost their status.
