How to get there:
Drive towards Antalya from Mugla. Turn north at location N36.97144, E28.69971.
Continue uphill on this road, it gets more narrow higher up, but stays paved.
Shortly before the trailhead, you have
a pretty good view of the mountain.
Find parking on your right immediately after a forest road forking right
at location N37.05901, E28.81950. Elevation is near 1750 meter. This is a good
trailhead.
Route description:
Follow the forest road uphill. Keep left in the first road fork. Then left
again after a long, gentle uphill. Note that if you really want a very short
hike, this road may be driven quite high with most cars. Higher up, when the
road is more level, it makes a big bend right. One may consider making
a short-cut here. The road is rougher (not suitable to drive) above this bend.
The road climbs and arrives at a local col. A trail marked with white paint
and small cairns forks right at this location. Follow this trail to the summit.
The summit has an old building on its top.
Comments:
I left our hotel somewhat after 0900 and parked near the trailhead before
1030. I had downloaded some tracks from Wikiloc, they all ascended on top
of a ridge that may be accessed from a bit further up the main road. I did
this. No trail anywhere up here. Some bushwack, but not in any case
really bad. Higher up, the terrain was pleasant.
Here, I got an excellent view
of the remaining part of the mountain.
After a bit, I joined the track coming up the valley on the east side of
the ridge I had followed. Clearly a better route.
Next, I met a couple coming down the big track (almost a rough road). They were
dressed with heavy duty pants, mountain jacket, mountain boots and wearing bright
red helmets! I was a bit surprised, why would anybody wear a helmet up here?
The final trail
posed no difficulties and I arrived on top at 1200. Good views
in all directions.
I rested and had some drink until 1215. Descending a much better way, I was
back down in one hour.
On my way back down I met a big group (10-12 people) hiking uphill.
They were all dressed in full mountain gear, mountain boots, pants, big jackets and each carried
a backpack.
They spent
the National Holiday of Turkey in a nice way! I told them "Happy birthday Turkey" in passing,
this was clearly appreciated. One guy asked if I did this mountain alone? They may all have
been a bit surprised to see me in shorts and a short sleeve T-shirt only.
Easy drive back, arriving at my hotel shortly before
1430.
