How to get there:
There are several forest roads that may provide access. One possibility is
to take paved roads to location N37.97648, W2.54650, then fork left (downhill) from here.
You need a high clearance vehicle, the first part of this dirt road was rough (2024).
Continue with many switch-back turns as the road (generally in good condition) climbs
the lower part of the mountain. Stay right in a couple of road forks (uphill).
This road ends
at location N37.96371, W002.54917, elevation about 1650 meter. There is space for
4-5 cars also leaving room for cars to turn around.
See here For a quick summary of the peaks climbed on this trip.
Route::
A well marked trail starts at this trailhead and gains the main crest with a signed
trail intersection. Continue (right) the obvious way.The trail is generally easy
to follow. A couple of false summits
before you gain a pretty long summit ridge with
the highest point at the far end.
Comments:
A quick overview of peaks climbed in June 2024 is here.
I started walking at 1125 and arrived at the summit at 1240.
Very good views and a nice day. A group of people from Portugal
had taken a long rest. Friendly people that wanted to chat. I finally
told them goodbye and left at 1300. One hour descent back to my car.
I decided that it would be smart to also visit
Calar de Santa Barbara on my way back to Granada.
