How to get there:
Drive south from A-24, passing Caramanico Terme, then up the valley to

Route description:
Monte Morrone is the highest peak on this pretty large mountain that is separated from
Amaro by the San Leonardo Pass. There are three independent summits having more than 100 meter
of prominence. All three are described here.
First, head up the slope behind the building, going slightly left. This route is marked (red/white), as
you enter the trees, keep left on an old farm road, then turn right and follow a big track pretty steeply
uphill. This trail will again merge with a forest road a bit higher up. The route now follows the forest
road only gently climbing in big zig-zags. Just before leaving the trees, the trail again makes a short-cut
(right, signs) then merges with the forest road as it traverses right just above the trees. Continue until
the forest road makes a sharp turn left. This is at location N42.07424, E014.01116, elevation about 1775 meter.
If you want to climb Monte Morrone directly (first), then leave the road here and pick up a marked trail that
continues a nice traverse without gaining much elevation. Alternatively, follow the road further, this will
lead to the summit of Monte Mileto, 1920 meter.
