How to get there:
This mountain has a short and direct access from the city of Jimma.
First drive (paved road) to location N7.66942, E36.89248, elevation about
1830 meter. Fork right here and drive a somewhat rough road to location
N7.64288, E36.91235, elevation about 2090 meter, where there is a large space
for parking. This access road may be best seen on satellite.
Route description:
Walk back along the road you came until a big trail forks left, uphill.
Follow this trail to the summit, the final access is easiest if one keeps
right, then pass by
a big tree
to the summit area.
A track has been posted
on Peakbagger. Total distance is about 900 meter with a vertical gain of
near 100 meter.
Comments:
After a longer, but pleasant hike to Totibo,
we still had time to explore
a possible access to this peak. It turned out that we could drive quite
close to the final hill. I traversed directly
towards the summit, but this
route involved the crossing of two fences, each with thorny branches. One should
follow my route of descent. The ascent took about 15 minutes, descending back
down to the car in 10.
This concluded a very interesting and successful trip to Ethiopia.
My flight home would leave from Jimma the following day.
