How to get there:
This hill is overlooking the town of St. Johns, just on the
north side of the bay inlet.
Route description:
From the house where I was staying, The Battery, belonging to
Memorial University of Newfoundland,
one just follows the road
uphill, then takes the short trail that forks left and obviously
serves the summit. This is where the road bends right to serve
the tower on Signal Hill.
Comments:
Having arrived the night before, I woke up early and decided to have a morning
walk before the shuttle would pick me up and transfer me to the Memorial
University of Newfoundland where the 25th. International Coinference on
Domain Decomposition Methods would begin this Monday.
The ascent (leaving at 0600) took 20 minutes of easy walking, I stayed 15 minutes at the summit.
The sun had
just come up from the Atlantic. To the south, I could see what is
the easternmost point
of the continent, Cape Spear. The summit has tow points, located quite
close together, that have similar height. The sign telling about this summit and
its name Ladies Lookout, is placed at the south hump.
I subsequently walked back down in 15 minutes.
