How to get there:
Take the ferry from Gjermundshamn to Årsnes. Drive about 2 kilometer (south) towards
Rosendal. Find parking on the left, just off the road at location 60.03246, E6.01429, elevation
about 20 meter.
Route description:
Follow the mountain farm road uphill, at a fork higher up, go right.
Continue until you reach a local hill-top near N60.02730, E6.02648, elevation
just below 570 meter. There is a red sign pointing directly uphill here.
The ridge, with a nice trail is 240 meter away, and about 70 meter higher.
A route has been marked by red painted sticks, however too few people have
been here, so a trail has not been established (yet).
Once you reach the trail, turn left and follow it to the summit.
This trail is
about 4 kilometer one way. There are several small ups and downs as well as false
summits along the way, before you finally
reach a big cairn marking the highest point.
A track is posted on Peakbagger.
Comments:
Harald and I left Bergen at 0810, in order to catch the ferry at
Gjermundshamn at 1000. A short drive on the far side and we could
start walking by 1030. The hike to the summit took 2.5 hours. A marked route
shows the way from the highest point on the mountain road and the trail on the ridge.
Once there, a well marked trail may be followed to the summit. Good weather and nice
views to the Hardanger fjord, but also to Bjørndalstindane and Juklevass.
We stayed at the summit 15 minutes before starting the hike back. Our descent
took 2 hours.
