How to get there:
Drive to Holmedalen, this is almost one hour after leaving the ferry
that crosses the Hardangerfjord from Gjermundshamn. Continue up the
valley to parking next to the cross country sking area. This location
is N59.81737, E5.91371, elevation near 210 meter.
Route description:
One may as well walk around the lake.
Counter-clockwise is recommended.
Shortly after crossing the bridge across Bergsdalselva, leave the path and
head directly uphill towards the summit. You may preferably follow deer tracks
that run in the desired direction. You will find a trail higher up along the
top ridge. After crossing a few bumps,
pass left of a big rock to
gain the highest point. The summit is marked by a small cairn. Comments:
I did this hike with my friend Harald.
We walked around the lake, starting out with going right.
This is a rather short and easy ascent of a small hill. There are
no real trails on this hill, but several segments that can be followed.
The ascent took about 45 minutes.
We spent only a few minutes on this top. Descending, we had agreed that
Harald should proceed to climb Giskafjellet.
I had already been to this summit, this implied that I could drive the car to
the trailhead of Nordvest for Jonsåsen.
Next, I would climb this summit, while Harald would traverse across after
visiting Giskafjellet.
Many thanks, "takk for turen" to Harald.
