How to get there:
The trailhead and parking is about 125 kilometer south-west of Salamanca.
Most of the way (to Ciudad Rodrigo) is on a 4 lane Hwy. From there continue
on very good roads to the trailhead, located on the left side (east side) of
the road near location N40.24574, W6.77763, elevation near 1040 meter.
See here For a quick summary of the peaks climbed on this trip.
Route description:
Continue through the gate and follow the farm road until it ends. The path
continues as a rough tractor road
to a building and a pasture. From here,
a trail (look for cement markers) continues on the west side of the peak. This
trail gradually ascends and gets to the main crest slightly north of the summit.
Turn uphill and ascend easy terrain
to the summit marker. There is an almost
equally high point a short distance south along the summit ridge. Comments:
This was a travel day from our stay in Belmonte,
Portugal to our new lodging
about 10 kilometer north of Salamanca. This peak, seemed like a good place
for a walk, breaking the drive in two.
We left at 1120, Heidi wanted to make a somewhat shorter walk. I arrived at the
summut at 1220. Good views in all diretions. There is a nearby point south of
the cairn that may be equally high. Descending at 1230, I was back at the car
by 1325. Heidi had a good walk on her own and waited for me to arrive back down.
We next drove to Salamanca and our hotel, arriving there around 1510.
