How to get there:
Take the ferry to Jondal, drive south (right as you exit from the ferry). Do NOT take the tunnel, but fork right before it onto the road that runs to Hessvika. Drive to location N60.20201, E006.10973. Turn left (uphill) here. Just after the first house, you find a self serve toll road station. Unfortunately, this (still!) does not accept payments by VIPPS, thus you need to arrive with some cash. The toll is only NOK 30, (in 2204). Drive up this dirt road, a normal car will do. The road has a rough crossing of a small river higher up, park just before this. The location is N60.20126, E006.12907, elevation is just below 300 meter.
Route description:
A nice, well marked trail starts from this trailhead. It runs up to Stormyra and across on a nice wooden footpath. A bit more ascent to the small lake Raunlivatnet. Next, descend to the big lake Raunlivatnet and continue to the mountain farms called Grønrimb. Continue shortly south, then be careful to pick the trail that forks (left) crossing east to ascend the hill Kleivene and cross over to the mountain farm Skitnåsætret. Daurmålsnuten is now straight ahead. This is elevation near 612 meter. A trail continues north of Svartavatnet, then onwards to Urdavatnet. About half way on the north side of Urdavatnet, ascend left along an obvious (shallow) gully to reach the col between Middagsnuten and Daurmålsnuten.
Cross this col, then soon, locate a grass slope going up on your right. Ascend here and keep left higher up in order to enter the proper, big gully that continues uphill. Follow this natural route uphill until it becomes level, then even descending slightly. Identify an easy (short) scramble (2 separate) complete the ascent, connecting to the main crest about 100 meter east of the highest point.
Note that the highest point is near the steep side that you ascended below. The cairn is about 100 meter on the north-west side
Comments:
I did this climb with my friend Kjell. We stayed in his cabin in Strandebarm and took the 0750 ferry to Jondal. Ready to walk at 0845. A very nice walk brought us to the mountain farms called Grønrimb. We continued on a trail until about half way on the north side of lake Urdavatnet. The route up the peak is nice and easy. I had a track from "Elbow", however, I decided to continue along the nice ramp until it essentially ended. At this location, it was pretty easy to find a short scramble consisting of 2 parts, that connected nicely to the main crest. This still makes this route (YDS) class 3. We arrived on top at 1145, so 3 hours. Leaving shortly before noon, we descended the same way, but then headed for Middagsnuten on our way back to the Skitnåsætret farm house.
