How to get there:
Drive Hwy. 19 north from Campbell River. Turn right onto a narrow
forest road at location N50.17288, West 125.48079, elevation close to 300 meter.
Follow this rough road uphill. Your car should have high clearance and 4WD.
The road gets appreciably rougher after location N50.20200, W125.48066, elevation
about 813 meter. Unless you have a rugged 4WD,
park here. Otherwise continue
to a footbridge
near location N50.20746, W125.48134, elevation near 860 meter.
Route description:
Continue the road after the foot bridge.
The road gets smaller
higher up and eventually, turns into a trail.
A cairn near the end of
the forest road indicates the beginning of a possible
route. We descended to the trail that continues from this road a bit
more west. Both variations have some red and/or blue markers, but nothing
like a completly marked trail.
The route has quite a bit of bushwack.
The summit has a typical antenna as well
as a highest point marker.

I did this with my son Pål while waiting for some possibly bad weather
to end by Saturday night. Our main objective being the Golden Hinde.
We drove the road all the way to the foot bridge, however, you need a good
4WD vehicle to do this, since the last part of the road is very rough.
We started hiking around 0900 and arrived at the summit around 1120. A short
break followed. The forecast called for rain, but we had intermittent sunshine
from beginning to end. We arrived at the summit by 1120, so 2:20 up. Leaving
at 1130, we followed a trail (with flags) that deviated from our
route of ascent. We hit the trail that was a continuation
of the road somewhat more west. Back by the car at 1310, so 1:40 descending.
