How to get there:
Drive E-16 from Voss to Evanger. Cross the bridge and immediately turn right as you pass the local grocery store. Follow this road as it winds its way uphill, then traverses eastward. The road will cross a small creek on a bridge then arrive at a small saw-mill with entrance on the right hand side of the road. This is a possible place to park, however, one should always ask permission from the owners, they live a bit further up the road (Muggås). The location is N60.65222, E006.13818, elevation about 275 meter.
Route description:
From the parking, walk back along the road and across the bridge, shortly after this, a farmers road forks sharply right. Follow this road, after about one kilometer, this road makes a sharp turn left (west). In summer, follow the trail from this bend to Muggåsstølen. In winter, it is better to continue along the road until you get to the next little stream. There is another trail here running up a small valley called Bjørnagili. The ski route then continues uphill on the west (left) side of the main creek to reach an area close to the outlet from lake Skorsetvatnet, elevation 777 meter.
From the lake, continue to ascend north. Unless there are avalanche issues from the steeper cliffs on your right (east), one may follow the main drainage, alternatively, one may ascend a bit further left (west). When reaching the top area, continue north-east to find the summit.
Comments:
This was a Sunday trip that I organized for the Bergen Mountaineering group. We were 17 people that skied to this summit. Everybody made the top, actually ahead of my estimated time. We started somewhat before 1000 and returned to the cars around 1500.
